Cactus Garden - Jardin de Cactus
What can I see and do during my visit?
In the village of Guatiza, situated north-east of the island, you will find the beautiful cactus garden Jardin de Cactus. It is like many other attractions on the island, definitely worth a visit. Cesar Manrique's soul is involved and is a great place to spend some time, when you are in Lanzarote. In this huge garden, which is a wonderful example of an architectural intervention integrated into the landscape, there are more than 7,000 specimens of more than 1,000 cactus species from such different places in the world like Peru, Mexico, Chile, Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar and Morocco.
The Lago Martianez is a fantastic, post-modern swimming and sunbathing complex designed by the famous Lanzaroteno architect Cesar Manrique. The Lido Martianez Tenerife alias Lago Martianez now, stretches along Avda. Colon from the beach Playa Martianez right up to the town square Plaza de los Reyes Catholicos where its Casino is now.

Also referred to as Jardin de Aclimatacion de La Orotava or, simply, El Botanico, the Botanical Garden of Tenerife is located in the municipality of Puerto de la Cruz. Besides the inner scientific value of the garden, the venue is also of historic interest. Thus, its origins go back to the late 18th century when it was founded upon the order of Marquis Alonso de Nava y Grimon, with the supervision of Nicolas Eduardo. In time, the scientific virtues of the garden were repeatedly ascertained as to the diversity of the species sheltered here.
La Laguna / La Orotava
La Laguna sits in the Aguere valley at the foot of the Anaga mountains. The surrounding countryside is very pretty and if you drive up into the hills you can get some fabulous views of the town below, nestled in amongst the hills. La Orotava is set in amongst attractive fertile countryside. Much of the town's wealth came from the fertile slopes surrounding the town and today the main crop covering the hills is bananas. Two historical Towns great for wandering about.
At Loro Parque, you can watch the Dolphins as they perform right before your eyes, and see the Orcas with their top class performance. These are just two of the most popular attractions within the Park, and then there are the Penguins who have made their home on one of the largest icebergs outside of the polar regions!
Loro ParkThe Park is famous for it's many Parrots which you can view and enjoy as you move around the Park, but it's also sanctuary for a wide selection of endangered species from around the world.
